The
business was initially founded as Advanced Computer Company (ACC) in 1992. Along
10 years ACC Company introduces many applications covering both end-users and
enterprises.
In 1997
ACC developed a new CD protection technique; the technique was initially used to
protect the multimedia products of ACC Company. In 1999 the company started to
market the solution to other Egyptian companies. In 2000 the R&D team built
a complete environment for CD protection, this environment automate the
complicated CD protection steps.
The CD
protection succeeded to replace other CD protection solutions in the local
market, 95% of Egyptian companies uses Softlock CD protection technique.
In 2003
Softlock was officially established, in the same year the company introduces CDR
and Dongle protection. In 2004 the R&D department releases Softlock
Protection Kit version 2.0 which support different protection techniques like
CD, CDR, Dongle and Internet.
Softlock Protection Kit Version 4.0 was introduced to the market in
2005 providing all protection scenarios with integrated license management
system, credit based system, web administration, multi-user support and many
other features.
Softlock succeeded to provide both software and data protection to
many Egyptian, Regional and International companies.
In 2007
Softlock started to develop the Egyptian Smart Token, this project was
completely funded by ITIDA. ITIDA which is a governmental institute supervised
by the Ministry of Communication. The Smart Token project was delivered in the
middle of 2008.
In 2008
Softlock started to support PKI systems and secure identification products.
R&D department developed three certified models of the hardware token and a
complete set of software libraries and application.
In
January 2010 Softlock Protection Studio Version 5.0 was introduced, the solution
provides strong protection integrated with PKI technology, high compatible with
latest operating environments, flexible license management and very friendly
user interface.
